Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This position involves providing specialized nursing care for cardiac patients within a 28-bed unit that handles acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias, vascular issues, and post-procedural care. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient-centered care in a dynamic, family-oriented environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a registered nurse (RN); certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); at least 1 year of experience in cardiology, with a minimum of 0 years required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience interpreting cardiac rhythms; comfort titrating medications such as Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilde, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, and Tirofiban.
- Responsibilities: Providing cardiac and post-procedural nursing care, monitoring telemetry strips, supporting blood draws, and assisting with safety rounds and ADLs. Nurses may have patient assignments or act as charge nurses.
- Support within the Department: CNA support for vital signs, blood glucose checks, safety rounds, and assistance with ADLs.
- Technology/Equipment: Use of electronic medical records (Epic), infusion pumps (Alaris, Omnicell), monitors (Philips), and other unit-specific equipment.
- Orientation: Two days of departmental orientation.
- Additional Notes: Scrub color is royal blue; parking is free and on-site; the unit fosters a family atmosphere emphasizing teamwork.
