Description
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking experienced Medical Surgical (MS) nurses for a float pool position based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The role involves providing patient care on a general medical surgical floor with the flexibility to float to various units including orthopedics, neurology, and cardiac. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This opportunity is suitable for first-time travelers and offers a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Sheboygan, WI
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM or 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM; schedule made 4-6 weeks in advance
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36.0 hours
- Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a valid license; 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience; Certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); EPIC electronic medical record experience required
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tubes, stable tracheostomy management, IV skills, port/central lines, RT management of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo devices, feeding tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and titrating drips like Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroan; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Patient Ratios: Nights 1:6; Days 1:4-6
- Support Staff on Unit: HUC (Days only), CNA (with vitals and blood glucose, no IV insertions/removals), Charge nurse, Phlebotomy, RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), therapists (OT, PT, ST) weekdays with limited weekend hours, remote telemonitoring with Tele tech
- Orientation: One full shift for login access and paperwork, followed by a 12-hour orientation on the assigned unit(s)
- Support Services: Phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, therapy team, telemonitoring
- Additional Information: First-time traveler; humidified support in diverse clinical scenarios; flexible support staff; units require proficiency in life support and IV management; scrubs in any solid, professional color; free parking; traveler friendly culture with strong team environment; holiday work expected up to 50% of the holidays
