Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized care in a 12-bed CICU for post-operative heart patients, individuals experiencing acute myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, and other cardiac conditions. The selected candidate must bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Position: Cardiac ICU RN
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular
- Shift: 12-hour nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 36 hours guaranteed per week, with contract length of 13 weeks starting 06/29/2026
- Certifications and Education: Wisconsin RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); CCRN preferred, not required. Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years with cardiac experience, including skills with Swans and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), post-operative heart care, clinical experience with EPIC electronic medical record system preferred
- Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed
- On Call/Call Back: Picking up call permitted, response time within 1 hour; not required
- Additional Information:
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays when the unit is closed
- GSA hours are not guaranteed during the week of orientation
- Unit will typically experience low census in 4-hour increments and may request staff to work only 4 or 8 hours of the shift
- Patient ratios include 2:1 for CRRT, 1:1 for Impella
- Primary procedures include care for post-op hearts, AMI, and cardiogenic shock, with frequent cardioversions and line placements/deployments
- Candidate characteristics: hard-working, resilient, adaptable to change, able to work independently, capable of managing tasks timely
- Scrub attire can be any color
