Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurses are needed for a 13-week contract in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves working in a Neuro Critical Care Unit, providing specialized assessments and bedside procedures for neurology patients, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurosurgery cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of orientation.
Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, WI
- Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM 7:30 PM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday shifts
- Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Wisconsin RN License, BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC, and NIHSS. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required, with a strong background in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU, including neuro assessments and basic ICU bedside procedures (e.g., line placement, intubation). Familiarity with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is preferred.
- Additional Information: Experience working as a Neuro Interventionalist is a plus. Candidates should be resilient, able to manage change well, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Scrub colors are flexible.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years, ideally with travel ICU/neuro assignments.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Education: Associate Degree or Certificate.
- Vaccinations: Mandatory flu and COVID vaccination; masks required if declined during flu season.
- Float: Will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, with possible fill-in for other critical care or inpatient units.
- Additional notes: This role requires a hard-working, resilient, adaptable, and socially capable candidate who can handle independently managing tasks and responsibilities.
