Description

Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Binghamton, New York. The RN protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities by delivering patient-centered nursing care that supports prevention of illness and injury and alleviates suffering. This role requires compliance with applicable standards of practice and professional development expectations, with candidates required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12 nights; 36 hours per week; every 3rd weekend
  • Required Qualifications: Current New York State Registered Nurse license; graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross); and experience with intensive cardiac patients, including (as applicable) CHF, COPD, end stage heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and normothermia; stroke patients (thrombectomy/TNK); and ICU overflow. Also requires collaboration; communication (verbal and written); judgement/critical thinking; organizational understanding; planning (organizing and time management); problem solving; quality; reliability; and safety and risk management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN); relevant skills certification (such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)) as required by the home unit assigned; previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; and experience with Epic or Meditech.
  • Additional Information: Demonstrates working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to facility policy. Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment. Educates patients and families on health promotion and disease management and supports Nursing Shared Governance activities (including unit council participation, improvement initiatives, and peer review). Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students and completes mandatory education requirements. May perform duties related to a Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned and participates in a Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop.
