Description
Job Summary: Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) Johnson City, New York. The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities by providing nursing care that prevents illness and injury and alleviates suffering. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients, while ensuring compliance with applicable standards of practice and professional development. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift; 12-hour shifts; 36 hours per week; every other weekend.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York State); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months to three (3) years; additional nursing experience as specified; ability to collaborate and communicate (verbal and written); judgment/critical thinking; organizational understanding and planning (organizing and time management); problem solving; quality, reliability, and safety/risk management.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing; prior clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; Professional certification in a related nursing specialty; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) as required by the assigned unit; ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate and chemo administration experience.
- Additional Information: Nursing care includes serving as primary and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment; patient and family education in health promotion and disease management; safe medication administration with working knowledge of pharmacology; participation in shared governance activities, improvement initiatives, and peer review practices; engagement in professional development and completion of mandatory education requirements; integration of nursing research and current evidence into practice; support for new employees and students; compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and unit policies; occasional additional duties as assigned.
