Description
Job Summary: Medical Surgical With Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse (RN) Newburgh, Indiana. The role supports a Neuro Cardiac Unit providing care for complex Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients, including postcardiac cath recovery and neurological conditions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour Days shift (6:30 AM7:00 AM); minimum 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current active compact license; Advanced training/competencies aligned with Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (required certifications must be attached upon submittal); Associate Degree or Certificate; experience with strong Tele/Med/Surg patient care and at least one travel assignment; trauma level II experience; recent Electronic Patient Record system experience (EPIC) required (may require completion of a checkoff class); ability to demonstrate NIHSS/dysphagia screen and strong neuro assessment skills; Telemetry and 12-lead Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation with the ability to pass the Tele test; experience initiating/titrating drips (including insulin, cardiac therapies, and heparin); heart cath recovery experience including femoral sites and TR bands.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NG/PEG tubes, peripheral intravenous (PIV) insertion, Tikosyn-related tasks, and chest tubes.
- Additional Information: Patient population includes complex Med/Surg/Tele cases such as post cardiac caths with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD care, complex abdominal surgeries (including open cases/colon procedures), oncology needs, and craniotomy post-operative care (POD 2). Three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday are required. Precepting of students and new hires may be required. Navy blue scrubs are required, with no competing health system or agency logos.
