Description

Job Summary: Medical-Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (MS ONC) Springfield, IL
The healthcare provider will deliver inpatient care for an oncology-focused medical-surgical unit, including chemotherapy administration and supportive treatment. The role involves managing complex IV and line care needs, monitoring for abnormal lab values, and recognizing or communicating potential side effects. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights (3x12); 12 shift hours; minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); active Illinois (IL) license (in hand at submission or in application process); minimum 1 year experience required; chemotherapy-related competencies including accessing/managing ports, administration of chemotherapy and blood products, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, continuous infusion of chemotherapy, IV push chemotherapy administration, monitoring chemotherapy and abnormal lab values, cytotoxic spill management, and patient/family education and support.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Chemo certification; Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN); Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or National Certification Corporation (ONCC).
  • Weekend: Will work every other weekend.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Flu vaccine is required (medical or religious exemptions only).
