Description
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Night Shift | South Charleston, West Virginia
An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse is needed to provide critical care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with complex, potentially life-threatening conditions. This role supports time-sensitive care involving hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, sepsis care, post-procedural monitoring, and titration of high-acuity medications. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour nights; 36 hours per week (minimum); weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Required Qualifications: Current RN licensure; Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association (AHA)); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association (AHA)); ICU experience; two years of critical care experience; travel experience required
- Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); Impella experience preferred; Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) experience preferred
- Additional Information: ICU patient populations may include critically ill patients requiring invasive/non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, management of sepsis and Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI), renal patients, post vascular procedures, stroke/TIA and seizure care, lumbar drains, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) ventilator management, cardiovascular procedures, and titration of critical drips (including vasopressors/sedation and medications such as Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Insulin). No nurse aids on the unit; charge nurse/house supervisor support includes a charge nurse primarily without patients and house supervisor coverage 24/7. Floating is required to Stepdown, and if not needed in Stepdown, may include Medical-Surgical/Telemetry or care for ICU patients boarded in the Emergency Department; floating to Medical-Surgical is rare. Unit orientation includes general hospital orientation, full-day nursing orientation for RNs, and preceptor-supported orientation with additional skills checklist components. Charting is completed in EPIC.
