Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular Registered Professional Nurse (ICU OH) New York, New York. The Clinical Nurse provides safe, competent, quality patient care using nursing theory and research, applying the nursing process for a designated group of patients. The role includes clinical assessment, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate the plan of care, patient and caregiver education, and documentation in alignment with organizational standards. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating; 11.5 hours, 3 days per week; minimum 34.5 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS); minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience; 2 years of post open heart and cardiac care unit experience; organization and patient care skills aligned with ICU responsibilities.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BSN) with a major in nursing (Associate degree in nursing considered only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN Program); Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience with EPIC.
- Additional Information: Provides patient care by applying the nursing process and evidence-based practice, prioritizing teaching, rounding, coaching, and transition planning; collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to implement and evaluate the plan of care; performs purposeful hourly rounding and supports patient experience actions such as admission welcome, bedside shift report, high-risk medication/equipment/lines/drains/airway awareness, medication review, discharge wrap-up, and MD/RN unit collaboration; supports quality and safety by identifying barriers, escalating hazards, participating in peer review and quality improvement activities, contributing to compliance measures, and documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives; performs charge nurse duties as assigned and facilitates patient throughput on the shift basis; coordinates with clinical leadership to support supply/inventory needs and escalates material or staffing resource deficits as needed.
