Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) nurses are sought for a role in a hospital setting located in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This position involves working on a 12-hour shift schedule, with days starting at either 0700 or 1900 hours. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The role involves providing patient care for orthopedic and neuro-surgical patients, with experience on the EPIC electronic medical record system preferred.

Job Details:

• Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
• Shift: 12 Hour Shifts: 0700-1930; 1900-0730, with a half-hour lunch break
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (American Heart Association) certification, EPIC experience, minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, valid license to submit, and comfortable working in an acute care environment
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• Schedule: Self-scheduling for permanent staff; block scheduling permitted for travelers; every-other-weekend shifts; holiday work possible depending on unit needs; floating to MedSurg units and telehealth as needed
• Additional Information:
  • Charge nurse/house supervisor available 24/7, with designated responsibilities for day and night shifts
  • Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) typically assist with vitals, FSBS, ADLs, and Foley catheter removals, with staffing usually between 2 to 4 PCTs depending on unit needs
  • Respiratory therapy equipment such as Cpap, BiPAP, and high flow managed per RT instructions
  • Telehealth monitoring managed remotely on the third floor; RNs are not required to read strips unless necessary
  • Staffing includes RNs, PCTs, RTs, and monitor techs
  • Orientation requires 1 day of EPIC training, 1 day with a preceptor, and the third day independently on the unit
