Description
Job Summary:
Located in Seattle, Washington, this Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse position involves providing specialized care in a high acuity, high volume environment within the postpartum and antepartum units. The role requires delivering comprehensive maternal and neonatal care during high-risk deliveries and supporting mother/baby care until transfer to postpartum. Candidates must bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with work scheduled every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 3-5 years of high-risk obstetric experience, with 2 years in high acuity and high pace environments; Strong proficiency in Epic electronic medical records; must have current supervisory references and proof of required certifications.
- Preferred Qualifications: AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications.
- Float: May float to sister facilities supporting Mother/Baby services.
- Additional Information: Candidates must be capable of functioning as a Baby Nurse (Baby Catcher) during deliveries, with skills including newborn assessment, eyes, thighs, and assessment, and administering injections like Vitamin K. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EPIC system) and following AWHONN guidelines is valued.
- Certifications and Skills: Ability to assist with high-risk deliveries, perform neonatal resuscitation, manage postpartum hemorrhage, and utilize external fetal monitoring among other obstetric and neonatal procedures.
- Unit and Patient Care Details: Caring for neonates, adolescents, infants, and geriatrics within a high-risk, high-volume L&D setting with approximately 15 patients daily, supporting a total of 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit includes 31 beds and 4 operating rooms.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years high-risk obstetric experience, with at least 2 years in high acuity environments. Nursing experience must be recent, ideally within the last 3 years.
- Travel & Compliance: References required covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years, including charge nurses or lead roles. Completion of non-billable modules (average 16 hours) via Workramp is necessary prior to start and annually thereafter.
