Description
Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Floor Grand Forks, North Dakota
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care on a Medical Surgical Floor. The role includes coordinating patient care within an interdisciplinary team, performing ongoing assessments, and supporting safe discharge planning. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating shift (36 hr NOC weekends and holidays per unit rotation); 12 shift hours; minimum 36.0 hours per week
- Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with Registered Nurse license issued by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or eligible Compact State Agreement
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIH American Heart Association (AHA)
- Epic experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the specific specialty
- 2+ years of inpatient acute care experience in a larger hospital
- Recent travel experience required
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference for 3 completed assignments
- Responsibilities:
- Perform daily rounds on all patients to ensure quality customer service by coordinating and addressing unmet needs
- Develop and update a plan of care based on assessment of the patients physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs, including discharge planning
- Assess the patients condition and nursing needs; set goals and prescribe nursing actions to meet needs, including discharge planning
- Promptly assess, intervene, and reassess reported pain and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedure
- Identify early warning signs of patient condition change and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration, including contacting responsible clinicians as indicated by standard operating procedure and initiating emergency measures when needed
- Report pertinent observations to the appropriate multidisciplinary team member and document accurately and concisely; ensure timely intervention or referrals
- Complete incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) prior to completion of each shift
- Establish and maintain communication with patients and significant individuals and provide education to support safe discharge
- Begin discharge planning as early as possible, including appropriate education and counseling based on identified needs, and evaluate/document according to standard operating procedure
- Assign or delegate, within the scope of practice, education and experience-based responsibilities for nursing interventions to other persons when safely appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental or organizational needs
