Description
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse at a Level I trauma center in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy oncology unit, with a focus on chemotherapy administration and patient support. The shift consists of three twelve-hour days starting in August 2026.
Job Details:
- Position / Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Floor
- Shift: 3x12 Days (7:15 AM 6:45 PM)
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Illinois active license or in application process, minimum 1 year of recent oncology experience, BLS, Chemotherapy certification from ONC or ONCC, OCN certification, ONS certification, at least 6-7 months of patient ratio experience, Cerner charting system experience preferred, community hospital experience preferred, trauma level I experience preferred, travel experience preferred
- Preferred Qualifications: Chemo certification from ONC/ONCC, OCN, ONS certification, experience with accessing/managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, management/disposal of cytotoxic spills, and recognition/communication of abnormal lab values
- Additional Information: Candidate must have experience in chemotherapy administration, IV therapy/infusion, port management, central line care, and managing side effects. The role includes chemotherapy administration, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The unit supports adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of 24. Floating within scope is required, and candidates may work every other weekend.

- Special Requirements: Chemotherapy skills essential, Illinois license active or in process, submission includes SSN and DOB, confirmation of housing, and interview availability.
