Description
Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Kearney, Nebraska. This role provides critical nursing care for adult patients requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions, including trauma, cardiac conditions, sepsis, stroke, and respiratory distress. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour nights; minimum 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); License to submit: Yes; Acute care experience: minimum 2 year(s); Drivers license required at submittal.
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified.
- Additional Information:
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:23 for adults.
- Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress.
- Registered nurses are required to titrate drips, including any cardiac drip, insulin, and sedation.
- Nurse aides are provided based on census and may assist in patient care needs, including sitting in 1:1s as volume requires.
- Healthcare Support tech is available 3 days per week (MF) 08001630.
- Respiratory support equipment includes ventilators and other modalities; registered nurses are required to perform nasal cannula to vent per unit expectations.
- Monitors/telemetry are used; registered nurses are required to read/interpret/document strips.
- Floating may be required to stepdown (PCU) typically, and occasionally to MedSurg, generally maintaining the units typical ratios (1:4 or 1:5).
- Weekend requirements: every other weekend.
- Holiday requirements: minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract time frame.
- Orientation: 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation.
- Retention/skills testing expectations during orientation include a pass/fail exam on Wednesdays and an open book skills exam; a 90% is required to pass.
- Fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
