Description
Job Summary: Telemetry (TELE) Float Pool Registered Nurse Bridgeport, West Virginia
This position is for a Telemetry (TELE) Float Pool Registered Nurse supporting an acute care MedSurg/Tele environment. The role requires the ability to provide patient care across assigned units within a float pool, with a focus on basic telemetry patient management and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Nights) with a minimum of 36 hours per week; weekend requirements are every-other-weekend, with Sat/Sun for both days and nights.
- Required Qualifications: RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant setting (as stated); ability to read and interpret telemetry strips; completion of a cardiac rhythm exam (all travelers must take and pass).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with common patient diagnoses including CHF, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, cardiac cath-related patients, orthopedic patients, and oncology (with permanent staff administering chemo).
- Additional Information:
- Float Pool: Assignments are coordinated through the clinical coordinators office prior to shift start time. RN float assignment may include a parent unit with the possibility of floating to multiple units within the float pool, focused on basic telemetry patients within scope of practice.
- Care Setting & Support: Charge nurse coverage is available; day shift charge does not take patients, while night charge does take patients. Certified nursing assistants are used on all units, and they can take blood sugars.
- Respiratory Support: Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) only; Respiratory Therapy (RT) manages respiratory equipment.
- Telemetry/Monitoring: Telemetry is supported with monitor techs on most units; RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Orientation: 12 shifts of orientation with a preceptor.
- Holidays: Work in the holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.
