Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart Registered Nurse (RN) Temple, Texas
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for operating room (OR) open heart responsibilities. The RN coordinates patient care delivery using the nursing process, including assessment, nursing diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation to support safe transitions through the healthcare encounter. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: M-W 6:30 AM-7:00 PM; Minimum 36 hours per week
• On-Call: Yes (on-call expectations apply as scheduled)
• Responsibilities:
  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments using clinical reasoning and practice standards
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care; modify plans to meet clinical outcomes
  • Support evidence-based practice changes through research utilization and experiential learning
  • Create a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families; maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Preserve confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families; address ethical and clinical concerns
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, nursing staff, the health care team, and community
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement an integrated plan of care, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure timely follow-up
  • Use strategies and available resources for problem-solving while considering safety, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Participate in shared governance and ongoing professional growth, including continuing education and professional engagement
• Required Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Education/Degree: Not specified
  • Experience: 2 years of experience
  • Location Requirements: Temple, Texas

    • Ability to observe changes in patients medical conditions and communicate changes to nursing staff and physicians/providers
    • Ability to provide age-specific, patient-centered care through the nursing process with sensitivity and respect for diversity
    • General computer skills, including electronic medical documentation and scheduling/payroll systems
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic surgical cases, including open heart, open vascular, and endovascular
• Additional Information:
  • Float or weekend coverage may be required if called in.
