Description

Job Summary: Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) | Baltimore, Maryland
A Registered Nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular will provide post-operative critical care for patients in a dedicated open-heart recovery setting, including immediate transfer care from the operating room. Responsibilities include managing complex life-support modalities and titrating therapies for critically ill patients. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities: Provide ICU-level nursing care for post-op cardiac surgery patients in a dedicated open-heart unit; manage ventilated patients; support therapy requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT); care for patients with Swan (pulmonary artery) monitoring; manage vasoactive infusion therapy including titration; care for patients with epicardial wires/pacemakers; support and assist with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) level 1 management; provide care for patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
  • Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS); current experience with recovery of post-op cardiac surgery patients in an ICU setting, including ventilator care and management of CRRT, Swan monitoring, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive gtts titration, level 1 IABP, and ECMO; additional clinical preparation includes completion of a trauma course; proficiency with Epic.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); current Critical Care Certification.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: Weekend coverage may be required working 5 out of 6 weekends every 6 weeks. Orientation is scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. Assignments may be 36 or 48 hours per week. Nurse/Patient ratio may be 1:1 or 1:2. Start date: 07/06/2026.
