Description

Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Greenville, North Carolina. The role provides nursing care in a Palliative Care Inpatient Unit focused on symptom management and/or end of life care for patients with complex medical conditions. Candidates must bring their license on the first day and complete required assessments as part of the onboarding process.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights (12-hour shifts), working a minimum of 36.0 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and a North Carolina (NC) or compact license; 18 months of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting; ability to read monitor strips; experience with EPIC; required to complete Relias Exams and pass upon booking within 2 attempts
  • Preferred Qualifications: None listed
  • Additional Information:
    • Staffing ratio of 1:5 nurse-to-patient
    • Commonly utilized skills include PCA use, central line management, tracheotomy patient care, ostomy management, wound vacuum (wound vac) care, Foley catheter care, IV insertion/starting skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, and Dubhoff/NGT placement and management
    • Unit may care for patients requiring care related to epidurals and vents
    • Commonly used therapies/infusions may include various intravenous drips (e.g., cardiac, insulin, heparin) and cardiac monitoring
    • Common equipment includes wound vac, PCA, epidural, and trach
    • Commonly utilized ancillary staff support is available
    • Start date: 06/29/2026
    • Assignment length: 13 weeks
    • Unit bed count: 16-bed palliative/general medicine/surgery unit
    • Relias Exams are required to pass upon booking within 2 attempts; failing the second attempt may result in a pre-start cancellation
