Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) Kirkville, Missouri. The organization is seeking a Travel ER RN to provide high-acuity emergency services for patients of all ages, including critical presentations requiring rapid assessment and bedside clinical interventions. Candidates must bring their license on the first day and be prepared to support departmental workflows, including triage, direct-to-bed processes, and readiness for time-sensitive patient needs.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days, 6a - 6p; weekends required; 12 shift hours; minimum 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure; Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Trauma Nursing Core Course; at least 2+ years Emergency Department (ED) RN experience; at least 1+ year of travel experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a preceptor and/or charge experience; willingness to precept eventually.
• Additional Information:
  • Expected to manage patients across Emergency Severity Index (ESI) level 15 and assist with high-acuity cases, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis.
  • Must be able to perform core emergency clinical skills, including, but not limited to: peripheral intravenous (PIV) placement, port access/deaccess, Foley catheter placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, and splinting plus OCL application.
  • Must be able to assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement; US-guided IV experience is preferred.
  • Must be willing to respond to call lights and assist with patient transport.
  • No inpatient psych unit; behavioral health patients may be boarded in the ER until placement is available. On nights and weekends, ED RNs are required to make calls for psych patient placement.
  • All RNs are required to be willing to float to other departments if not needed in the ED; average float out of the ED is 1 shift in a 13-week period.
  • Medication and documentation responsibilities include completing appropriate EMTALA paperwork per regulatory and facility policy requirements.
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) system use is required (EDIS Medhost), along with pharmacy dispensing workflows as assigned (Omnicell); bar code medication administration (scanning) is not currently available in the ED.
