Description

Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) Anchorage, Alaska. This role provides post-anesthesia nursing care in an acute hospital setting, supporting Phase II recovery and specialized PACU needs, including pediatric experience as a preference. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days, 3x12 evening shifts (variable start/stop times) with a minimum of 36.0 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand for auto offer; pending license accepted for screening) and Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Preferred Qualifications: PACU Phase II experience and pediatric PACU experience
  • Responsibilities: Provide PACU nursing care, including PACU Phase II support and inpatient PACU coverage; perform arterial line management; recognize and manage dysrhythmias; support blood product administration; provide central line care/management; manage IV vasopressors; administer and manage narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents; support care involving external ventricular drain (EVD) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring; provide care for ventilated patients; support conscious sedation; perform post-epidural management; support general, local, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC); provide support for nerve blocks and spinal procedures; follow malignant hyperthermia protocol; complete pain assessment and management; support PCA pump management; use Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS); support bariatrics, ENT, general, gyn, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular care needs; provide pediatric PACU support
  • On-Call: On-call is required (1 call shift per week). Call shifts are primarily overnight (22300700), with weekend call expectations of selecting either one Saturday night or one Sunday night call shift. Nurses are required to be at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called
  • Additional Information:
    • Variable shift times may include 07001900, 08002000, 09002100, 10002200, or 11002300
    • Participation in 2 out of 3 major holidays is required (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
