Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (MS) Wausau, Wisconsin. This position supports a fast-paced Post Surgical Care Unit providing post-recovery nursing care for adults and geriatric patients across the continuum of pre- and post-surgical services. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (7a7p / 7p7a), with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)); Associate Degree or Certificate education; 2+ years Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience with recent hospital experience; Trauma level II experience; prior travel experience; Epic (Epic EMR) charting experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree education.
  • Responsibilities: Provide post-surgical/post-recovery nursing care; demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritize patient care needs based on acuity; work as part of a care team; utilize required clinical technology for documentation and medication administration workflows (Epic for charting, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps).
  • Additional Information: Contract length is 13 weeks. Start date is 07/06/2026. Unit float may be required to all inpatient units. Charting and clinical workflow include Epic EMR; medication scanning via Rovers; and medication administration support via Alaris pumps. Low census may result in unbillable hours in 4-hour increments (not considered on-call), which could include requesting a traveler to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. During flu season, compliance with flu and COVID vaccination requirements is required; if vaccination is declined, a mask must be worn at all times. Failure to follow the policy may result in corrective action.
