Description

RN Step Down (PCU) | Omaha, Nebraska
The healthcare provider is seeking Registered Nurses for a Step Down/Progressive Care Unit supporting oncology, trauma, and adult medical-surgical patients. The role includes caring for patients who may require ventilator support and hemodynamic monitoring, with the ability to titrate select drips as clinically indicated. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days (12-hour shifts) with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); ONS/ONCC; drivers license required at submission
  • Preferred Qualifications: Oncology certification (chemo certification) preferred
  • Certifications / Education / Experience (as stated): Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide PCU-level nursing care for adult oncology and trauma patients, including medical-surgical patients as needed
    • Perform hourly rounding and deliver patient care aligned with unit expectations
    • Titrate and manage select drips and medications as clinically indicated (including insulin occasionally and cardizem)
    • Support care that may include ventilator use and hemodynamic monitoring (including CVP, A-line, Swan-Ganz, and EV-1000); ICP (intercranial pressure) support may be trained real-time
    • Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (EPIC) for documentation and care coordination
    • Float to med-surg and PCU units within the same level of care as required
  • Additional Information:
    • Training/orientation includes 2 days
    • Weekend requirements: every other weekend
    • Patient care environment includes a fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in departments providing patient care
    • Eligible scheduling types noted: 7a7p, 7a3p, 3p7p, 7p11p, 11p7a
    • Unit equipment includes Lyko lifts in even rooms, with additional lift equipment available
