Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician (ORT) Atlantic, Iowa. Under the supervision of the RN, this role supports safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care by preparing for procedures, supporting the surgical team, and maintaining a protected sterile field. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Responsibilities:
  • Supports the RN and surgical team by assisting with limited direct patient care
  • Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Maintains a strong understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon
  • Sets up, maintains, and protects a sterile field throughout the procedure
  • Cleans, prepares, and packages instruments for disinfection and sterilization
  • Assists with room turnover between cases, including cleaning and preparing the environment for the next patient
  • Upholds patient safety standards and maintains required clinical competencies based on scope and training
  • Adheres to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates responsibility in time management, resource use, and supply handling
  • Participates as a collaborative and supportive team member
  • Performs other duties as assigned
• Schedule: Rotating shift, 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  • Licensure (candidate must bring license on the first day)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting trauma-level cases
  • Teaching hospital experience
