Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 7p - 7a; 12 shift hours; minimum 36 hours per week.

  • Provides systematic, comprehensive, and accurate nursing assessments and delivers appropriate patient care across stages of growth and development from pediatric to geriatric.
  • Performs direct patient care activities that support patient care delivery and a team concept; demonstrates knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation, including components of the nursing process, patient progress toward outcomes, and patient education; follows documentation guidelines.
  • Maintains professionalism by demonstrating knowledge of policies and procedures and identifying areas for clinical and professional growth.
  • Supports patient satisfaction by responding professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers; promotes a patient- and family-centered environment; maintains confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.

  • Demonstrates unit-specific knowledge for surgical patients, including conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment; individualizes care based on procedure type and anesthesia across the continuum of care; assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure and instructions.
  • Contributes to the perioperative team by prioritizing care based on patient needs and changes in condition.
  • Supports pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education; assesses patient understanding of surgical procedure and instructions and involves patients and family members in teaching.
  • Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner, including evaluating Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current health status.
