Clinical Nurse (Operating Room) Chapel Hill, North Carolina
The organization is seeking a Clinical Nurse for an Operating Room (OR) role in a hospital setting. This position provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 12 shift hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing; Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC); at least one (1) year of nursing experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Nursing degrees beyond required education (BSN or MSN)
• Responsibilities:
  • Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self, and attend education programs based on those needs
  • Support patient education using materials relevant to the patient population
  • Assess patient/family/caregiver readiness to learn and developmental level, including factors affecting ability to learn
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care
  • Participate in discussions with the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care and communicate relevant information to support continuity of care
  • Deliver care for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan
  • Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs and consult appropriate resources for complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and/or high-risk discharge planning
  • Support professional growth by developing goals with assistance and achieving goals within an identified time frame or renegotiating as needed
  • Participate in promoting cost-effective care and provide feedback to co-workers
  • Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, synthesize assessment data, and anticipate discharge needs
  • Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, address cultural and ethnic issues in planning, and prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems
  • Read clinical journals and bring applicable ideas and questions to the staff at large for assessment
• Additional Information: Trauma Level 1 experience and pediatric experience (or pediatric OR experience) are required, along with scrubbing
