Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Lubbock, Texas
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) will provide critical care for adult patients in a short term acute care setting. The role requires strong experience in cardiac, neuro, trauma, and general surgery support, with expectations to float among assigned units as needed. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); charting experience with Epic; at least 1 year of relevant experience; valid compact license must be in hand at submission; travel experience required
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level II experience; trauma experience; general surgery experience; neuro experience; cardiac experience
- Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced critical care support for adult patients, including management of complex medical and surgical needs
- Support ventilated and high-acuity patients, including ventilator management and respiratory care
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures and monitoring associated with intensive care needs (e.g., central line care/management, arterial line management, continuous infusion management, and monitoring tasks)
- Maintain patient safety through appropriate infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support care planning with interdisciplinary team resources (e.g., IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary support)
- Additional Information:
- Weekend coverage is expected: 6 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule to meet department needs
- Call coverage is not required
- Patient care may involve trauma and post-procedural cardiovascular, neuro, and general surgery-related diagnoses
- Special equipment may include Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Impella
- Seasoned traveler is required
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, NYE, NYD)
- Pre-approved time off is listed as one orientation hours: 12
- Orientation/module time is completed pre-start and annually; Modules are non-billable, average 16 hours spent (over 20 hours requires approval)
