Description

Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical With Telemetry (MS TELE), Medford, Oregon. This role supports MedSurg General Medical patients in an acute care setting on a telemetry-capable unit. The position requires strong teamwork, bedside reporting, and hourly rounding, with care provided to a variety of medical diagnoses. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; RN licensure required (non-Oregon licensed RNs eligible for a 90-day temporary license if the permanent license is not posted before the start of the assignment); minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with de-escalation techniques, chest tubes, heparin drips, and NG tubes/feeding tubes.
  • Responsibilities: Provide nursing care for general medical patients and medical complaints in patients with psych needs; adhere to care bundles and maintain professionalism aligned with values of excellence, respect, honesty, service, and teamwork; perform bedside reporting and hourly rounding.
  • Telemetry/Monitoring Notes: Remote telemetry is used and monitored by tele staff on a separate unit; RNs should have a basic understanding of strip interpretation, including lethal rhythms.
  • Medication/Drip Notes: Occasionally titrate heparin and cardizem; set rates for amiodarone. Vasopressors are not expected (never vasopressors).
  • Orientation/Training: Non-billable orientation totaling 12 hours for the first work week.
  • Floating: Travelers are first to float within the skill set and may potentially float to other MedSurg units, the Intensive Care Unit as a resource, the Emergency Department for holds, or other units as a sitter.
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Weekend requirements are dependent on department needs and may occur every other weekend or more; holiday requirements are not specific and may rotate with core staff.
  • Call/Standby: Can be placed on standby for low census; no additional call is required.
  • Scrubs/Dress Code: Any colored professional scrubs permitted; no tattoos above the shoulders can be shown; only a nose stud facial piercing is allowed; hair must be clean and well-kempt.
