Job Summary: Dubuque, IA Emergency Room Nurse (Emergency Room)
An Emergency Room Nurse will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department, supporting emergency services through accurate assessment, timely interventions, and medication management that includes drip/titrate therapies. This role requires expertise with emergency/critical care nursing skills and the ability to work night shifts. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Active Iowa (IA) nursing license or compact/multistate at time of submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC))
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (AHA)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (required; can be obtained during onboarding)
- Emergency Department (ED/ER/Emergency Room/Emergency Department) experience: 24 months of current experience
- Drip/Titrate experience in emergency/critical care settings, including cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin (required), and all types of critical care/emergency medicine drips
- Tele measure/read experience (required)
- Skills checklist must be specific to Emergency Room (Emergency Room) discipline
- Work history/resume/employment history must reflect 24 months of current ED/ER/Emergency Room/Emergency Department experience
- Submission includes a Professional Reference/Reference Check (charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director/CNO/COO performance evaluation/reference) from within 24 months of todays date (preferred)
- Drivers license document required
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a first-time traveler (24 months of emergency experience still required for the role)
- Additional Information:
- Orientation dates: 07/13/2026 and 07/20/2026
- Telemetry measure/read experience is required
- Every 3rd weekend is required
- Holiday requirement: unless the unit is closed, the contractor is required to work 12 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
- Patient ratio target: 3:1
- Unit capacity noted: 16-bed unit
- Scrubs: grey, solid
- Unit patient types: Emergency Department (Emergency Department)
- Call back requirements: 1.5x multiplier with 2-hour call back minimum
