Description
Job Summary: Burlington, Vermont Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) (Central Supply). The Central Supply Sterile Processing Technician provides essential support for sterile instrument reprocessing and GI endoscope reprocessing. Responsibilities include decontamination, preparation and packaging, and performing steam and low-temperature sterilization processes. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts; 8 hours per shift; minimum 40.0 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) (Health Standards for Professional Services Association (HSPA)) only
- Experience: 5 years of Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience required
- Clinical/Operational Knowledge: Competent in decontamination; prep and pack; steam sterilization; low-temperature sterilization; and endoscope reprocessing
- Additional experience requirement: 1 year of experience in a level 1 academic medical center with 20 or more operating rooms (ORs)
- Service Line experience: Service line experience required
- Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications may include Certified Endoscopy Technician (CER), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), and Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHL), if applicable, and would not exclude CRCST.
- Additional Information:
- Performs sterile instrument reprocessing and GI endoscope reprocessing with flexible scope (high-level disinfection) experience.
- Familiarity with Olympus scopes and washers.
- Familiarity with loaner trays.
- Ability to identify scope and equipment categories, including minor basic, major basic, and DaVinci scopes and arms, as well as relevant specialty instruments and brands/equipment.
- Ability to self-rate experience with DaVinci Robot Xi.
- Familiarity with hand washing delicate items.
- Recent case pick and sterilization experience.
- Monday through Sunday coverage is required; no block schedules are available.
- Minimum weekend coverage requirement: at least every other weekend and/or schedules adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs.
- Processing time expectations include: minor sets (less than 7 minutes), dental sets (under 4 minutes), and ortho trays (15 minutes).
- Bi-weekly orientations on Monday are required.
