Job Summary: Labor And Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D) Mauston, Wisconsin
A Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department provides quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients. The role completes nursing assessments and supports patient plans of care, including triage and labor progression monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12 shift hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Two-year degree in nursing (four-year degree in nursing preferred); Wisconsin Registered Nursing license; Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 1 month of hire; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire; STABLE certification within 1 year of hire; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 1 year of hire; exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Preferred Qualifications: Four-year degree in nursing
- Responsibilities: Completes initial nursing histories, assesses patients conditions, and develops individual plans of care; triages patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms; administers medications; assesses labor progression and manages induction of labor and cervical ripening; competently manages medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, management of meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa; performs and accurately interrupts fetal heart monitoring; manages pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes; assesses newborn condition and recognizes situations requiring heightened surveillance or a higher level of care; performs neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification; recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis; monitors newborn for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice and intervenes appropriately; promotes patient education and involvement of care of the newborn; identifies and alerts the provider about patient status changes promptly and appropriately; communicates effectively with the patients care team
