Job Summary:
The intensivist nurse specialist is sought for a medical-surgical intensive care unit located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing critical patient care in a 16-bed unit specializing in neuro and medical-surgical ICU cases. The position requires clinical expertise in stroke care, cerebral monitoring, and management of complex ICU procedures.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour nights starting from 07/27/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse license, BLS, NIHSS, and ACLS certifications. A minimum of 2 years of ICU and MedSurg experience with strong neuro experience is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. CCRN certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Float: Float rotation may be required between Medical-Surgical ICU and Neuro ICU units, and possibly other critical care units as needed.
• Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, starting on 07/27/2026.
• Additional Information: The unit may have low census periods, with work hours adjusted in 4 or 8-hour increments. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required. The unit handles cases such as stroke, cerebral monitoring, drainage procedures, vents, drips, chest and spinal drains, and CRRT patients. The facility experiences a variety of trauma cases including motor vehicle and snowmobile accidents. The clinical team includes shift leaders, CNA, and LPN support staff. During flu season, vaccination is mandatory, and mask-wearing is required for unvaccinated staff.
