Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) department in Austin, Texas, is seeking qualified registered nurses for a seasonal contract position. The assignment involves 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekends, and candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. Job Details:
- Location: Austin, TX
- Shift Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, rotating weekends
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, and SVE competency are required
- Experience: 2+ years of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery preferred; no minimum experience required for consideration
- Type of Unit: Labor and Delivery
- Number of Beds: 32
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Equipment Used: Nuvi, JADA, fetal pillow, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC), fetal scope (FSE), toco, ultrasound (US)
- Uniform: Solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts; navy blue scrubs required; no navy blue T-shirts
- Responsibilities include conducting SVD (spontaneous vaginal delivery), cerclages, C-sections, and TOLAC (trial of labor after cesarean)
- Typical Procedures: SVD, cerclages, C-sections, TOLAC
- Staffing: 1 charge nurse and 1 co-charge nurse per shift on both day and night shifts; RNs to accommodate 1:1 or 1:2 ratios
- Additional information: The unit emphasizes teamwork, positive attitude, adherence to attendance policies, and staff with experience in high-volume, Level IV unit care.
