Job Summary
A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) is being sought for a fast-paced acute care hospital located in Springfield, Illinois. This specialized unit manages adult patients requiring intermediate care, involving cardiac monitoring, neurological assessments, and various post-procedure care. The RN will deliver high-quality patient care within a Level I trauma center environment, supporting patient recovery and safety.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, starting 08/31/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois RN license, minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, or similar units; Certifications include BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). ACLS is preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner charting system, Level I trauma center experience, teaching hospital background, and prior telemetry or stepdown nursing roles.
- Float: Will float as needed within scope of practice to meet facility needs.
- Additional Information: Candidates must have experience with cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of post-cardiac procedures, and ventilator care. The unit supports adult patients of all diagnoses, emphasizing rapid patient throughput and high acuity care.
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 during day shifts, with a capacity for charge nurse management of up to 4 patients if needed.
- Unit Details: The unit includes interdisciplinary support such as respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and radiology services. It serves a daily census averaging 34 patients in a 38-bed facility, with necessary equipment for ventilated patients and advanced cardiac monitoring.
- Start / Facility Instructions: The first day includes virtual orientation and module completion. A valid Illinois license and all certifications must be in place prior to start.
- Compliance & Submission: Candidates must be pre-closed at time of submission, understanding of the role required, with interviews scheduled in advance. References may be pending; all background screenings must be disclosed.
