Description
Job Summary: Radiation Therapy Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) Wausau, Wisconsin. The role supports a chemotherapy infusion room within an oncology clinic, providing nursing care for patients receiving chemotherapy and related therapies. Responsibilities include assessment, releasing treatments based on labs, administering therapies, providing monitoring, and preparing patients for discharge. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift; 8 hour shifts, MondayFriday 8:30a5p; minimum 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current Wisconsin RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) chemotherapy certification; Associate Degree or Certificate; 2+ years of oncology experience; outpatient oncology and outpatient chemotherapy experience; Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy experience and understanding; experience with IV insertion and port-a-cath access; strong assessment skills; critical thinking/problem solving; teamwork/collaboration; time management; chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusions/injections experience; Epic /Beacon charting experience.

- Additional Information: The chemotherapy infusion room supports approximately 23 chairs/beds and sees about 4060 patients per day. Infusion and related treatments may last for all shift or up to 15 minutes, and may include nurse assessments. Typical staffing includes 5+ nurses in the infusion room (including a float with zero scheduled patients or a lighter patient load) and 12 medical assistants (MAs) that room the patients. Nursing tasks may include assessments as needed, checking labs, releasing treatment when applicable, obtaining IV/port/PICC access as needed, administering chemotherapy/immunotherapy/fluids, monitoring patients, and releasing patients home.
