Description
Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) Registered Nurse South Charleston, West Virginia
A Registered Nurse will provide critical care nursing for adult and geriatric patients in a cardiovascular intensive care environment, including an initial acute recovery phase and progression to the Medical ICU or stepdown based on patient needs. Responsibilities include caring for critically ill patients with complex, potentially life-threatening conditions and managing invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring. Candidates are required to bring a valid license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; days or nights as scheduled (including weekends and holidays rotationally).
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license (license required to submit, with willingness to wait); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Minimum of one to two years of critical care experience; Current CVICU experience; Travel experience; Experience with CRRT, Impella, and IABP.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
- Responsibilities: Provide nursing care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients requiring complex cardiovascular support and life-sustaining interventions; Utilize and titrate prescribed vasoactive and rate-control drips as required; Work in an initial recovery phase setting with 1:1 nurse-to-patient coverage, progressing to ICU/stepdown staffing based on patient needs; Float to the Medical ICU if there is no need in CVICU.
- Additional Information: Charge Nurse primarily without patients, with House Supervisor coverage 24/7; CT surgery remains the attending with critical care/pulmonary coverage; Respiratory therapy is not stationed in the ICU but is available as needed; Charting is completed in EPIC; Unit includes 4 beds in an initial central area used for acute recovery prior to transition.
