Description
Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a Level I trauma center located at an acute care hospital. This position involves providing specialized surgical nursing care across various service lines, with a focus on general surgery, trauma, and laparoscopic-assisted cases. The role requires collaborative patient care delivery in a high-volume environment with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and clinical excellence.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 5x8 shifts (2245-0715), Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current active Illinois license (or in application process), minimum 2.5 years of OR RN experience, trauma-level I experience, BLS certification required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Cerner charting system experience, CNOR certification, experience with laparoscopic assisted surgical cases, Level II trauma experience.
- Special Requirements: Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular. Experience with general, trauma, bariatric, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, and urology surgeries. Ability to handle emergent situations, respond to codes, and manage surgical equipment such as electrosurgical units and Hana tables.
- Additional Information: The candidate must have proven skills in handling complex cases including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, whipple procedures, cervical fusion, craniotomy, and multiple trauma injuries. The role includes on-call responsibilities once a week, with occasional need to float within scope, and adherence to facility policies regarding time off and compliance requirements.
