Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Specialty Springfield, Illinois. The operating room staff supports surgical services across multiple specialties within an acute care environment. Responsibilities include preparing for and assisting with general OR and trauma cases, with additional focus on facility-required clinical competencies. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: 5x8 Nights (2245-0715), Monday through Friday; 8 shift hours; minimum 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of operating room (OR) experience; active Illinois (IL) license in hand or in application process; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Level I trauma experience; General OR and trauma experience; Bariatric experience with laparoscopic assisted cases; General surgery case experience including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy (partial/total), and Whipple; Neurology case skills including cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion; Orthopedic case skills including arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed reduction of fractures, and open reduction of fractures; Plastic surgery case skills including free flap (microvascular); Transplant skills including organ donation; Urology case skills including cystoscopy, nephrectomy, and prostatectomy; Trauma case skills including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and motor vehicle accidents (multiple injuries); Emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia; Equipment/instrumentation/supplies experience including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables; Professional knowledge and skills including administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedure, and urinary bladder catheterization.
- Preferred Qualifications: Cerner experience.
- Additional Information: Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV). Level I trauma experience is required. Weekend coverage is required at 1 shift per month. On-call is required (1 time per week, typically less frequent). Float within scope to meet facility needs is rarely required (within the skill set). Open to accommodating block schedule is not available.
