Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Monroe, North Carolina
An RN specializing in the Intensive Care Unit is needed to provide direct care for adult medical and surgical ICU patients. Responsibilities include managing critically ill patients, supporting complex treatments and monitoring needs, and maintaining competency with required clinical skills. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, on nights (shift times include 06:4519:15 and 18:4507:15).
  • Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ICU experience (minimum 2 years ICU experience).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Not specified.
  • Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information:
    • Provides care for adult-only ICU patients, including sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), strokes, CIWA, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds, surgical patients, congestive heart failure (CHF), and COPD; no cardiothoracic or high-level neuro surgeries.
    • Supports typical ICU patient ratios of 1:23 depending on staffing.
    • Clinical skills include caring for vented patients and tracheostomies, managing chest tubes, critical drip maintenance, central line maintenance, arterial lines, wound care including wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, peripheral IV (PIV) starts, and NG tube insertion/maintenance.
    • Electronic medical record (EMR) experience: EPIC is required.
    • Department support includes 24/7 phlebotomy (ICU draws own labs), PICC team support during the day, and anesthesia available at night for central line placements, with hospitalist and intensivist support (intensivist on-site during the day; virtual critical care for nights).
    • Weekend rotation includes 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday); no on-call responsibilities.
    • Holiday expectations include working 50% of holidays in the contract.
    • Orientation includes 2 NEO shifts in the unit to orient to the shift hired into.
    • Block scheduling cannot necessarily be guaranteed; schedule requests may be submitted and will be balanced to unit needs.
