Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse Phoenix, AZ. This position involves working night shifts in a high-volume, Level 1 trauma emergency department. The role includes providing specialized trauma care, completing required certifications, and adhering to facility policies. The candidate will be responsible for participating in skills labs, managing diverse patient populations, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional emergency care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; 2 years of emergency room experience; Arizona license; ability to pass DYS exam (requires two attempts; failure results in a 6-month exclusion).
  • Preferred Qualifications: TNCC and ATCN certifications; experience with Cerner electronic medical record systems; comfort with Phillips monitors, Vents, and telemetry interpretation.
  • Float: Float within the Emergency Department including main hospital and select freestanding ERs; float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit features include 36 acute beds, 54 subacute beds, six trauma bays, and specialized pediatric, burn, and trauma patient care.
    • Nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4, with charge nurses managing light patient loads.
    • All RNs must demonstrate competency in Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, sterile technique, lifts, restraints, and wound care.
    • Hospital utilizes Cerner charting system.
    • The hospital has 24/7 anesthesia and pharmacy services.
    • Minimum of 2 medical doctors and additional midlevel providers in house.
    • Certification in CP Center, Spinal Cord TBIN preferred.
    • Scrub color is navy.
    • Travel teams must have their own vehicle.
    • Candidate must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.
    • The hospital cancels up to four shifts per 13-week assignment as needed.
