Description
Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Surgical Technician/Obstetrical Technician Templeton, CA. The position provides assistance in delivering patient care during labor, delivery, and recovery. Responsibilities include performing surgical scrub duties, maintaining appropriate supply levels, supporting obstetrics-related surgical procedures in the operating room, and assisting with patient care before and after surgery. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High school education/GED or equivalent; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor; Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA); Surgical Technician or Obstetrical Technician certification (required); License/certification must be brought on the first day.
- Preferred Qualifications: Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience; Surgical Technician or Obstetrical Technician certification (preferred); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per AH policy (preferred).
- Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing patient rooms.
- Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures using aseptic technique, including checking sterile packaging integrity.
- Assists the surgical team during operative procedures by providing needed supplies and instruments in a timely manner.
- Participates in the timeout on each case.
- Assists nursing staff in deliveries as directed, including preparation, positioning, transport, transfer, and discharge.
- Collects urinalysis (UA) specimens.
- Takes and records maternal vital signs, weight, height, and intake and output (I&O) measurements.
- Performs personal care services and assists with activities of daily living for patients as part of general care.
- Prepares, positions, transports, transfers, and discharges patients.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
