Description

Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a Med Surg unit located in Duluth, Minnesota. The position involves working on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with variable start times between 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Candidates are required to bring their licensure on the first day. This role offers a 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week and requires a minimum of two years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including at least one travel assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Duluth, Minnesota
  • Shift: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; shifts vary between 0700-1930 and 1900-0730.
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate; Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) licensure; American Heart Association (AHA) or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; minimum of 2+ years of Med Surg experience with at least 1 travel assignment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to other general west side units including 2W Hospice/Oncology, 4W Neuro EENT, 5 West, and 8 West.
  • Additional Information: Contract duration is 13 weeks; guaranteed hours are 36 per week. The unit is a 40-bed adult medical-surgical unit mainly caring for patients with respiratory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, infectious, renal, and electrolyte imbalances.
  • Responsibilities: Managing patient care with patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. Candidates should be resilient, hardworking, adaptable to change, and social. Scrub colors will be provided. During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID-19 vaccinations must wear masks at all times, as per policy.
  • On Call/Call-Back: May include low census periods and on-call responsibilities with a minimum of 2 hours callback.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holidays as needed.
