Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical Floor position in Weirton, West Virginia. The role involves providing nursing care to patients with various diagnoses, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleeding, alcohol withdrawal, falls, and weakness. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day. The position offers 12-hour day shifts.

Job Details:

• Location: Weirton, West Virginia
• Schedule: Shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with weekends as scheduled. No self-scheduling or block scheduling is available; shift schedules are created by the manager, who will accommodate requested time off. Staff are expected to be flexible and assist in filling schedule gaps. Schedules may involve rotating days and nights, typically alternating every two weeks.
• Required Qualifications: RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, minimum of 1 year of nursing experience. First-time travelers are accepted.
• Additional Information: Candidates may be required to participate in holiday rotations; RN staff will rotate through holidays. PCTs do not have scheduled holidays and work if scheduled on that day. The shift involves providing direct patient care duties such as vital signs, blood glucose measurements, EKGs, heart monitor management, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning.
• Responsibilities: Conduct patient assessments, manage vital signs, monitor telemetry, and assist with patient comfort and safety. RNs may troubleshoot respiratory equipment and manage breathing treatments, inhalers, and ABGs but are generally not responsible for titrating drips, with exceptions for certain medications like heparin, bumex, and lasix.
• Additional Tasks: Staff will need to comply with hospital policies, including a 50-mile radius rule for submissions, and include a copy of their unexpired drivers license with submissions.
• Certifications: BLS certification required. RN license must be active and verifiable.
• Experience: No minimum years of experience beyond the one-year requirement for qualified nurses.
