Description

Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical and Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Bismarck, North Dakota. The role involves working on a Medsurg/Onc unit with a focus on adult and geriatric patients, including those with strokes, hypertension, COPD, CHF, A fib non RVR, chest pain, MI after ICU, AMS/behavioral issues, and some telemetry patients. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day. This position offers a flexible schedule with shifts from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, and the minimum commitment is 36 hours per week starting 07/13/2026.

Job Details:

  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, specifically from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS Certification, NIHSS certification, minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medsurg/Oncology setting, experience with trach and BiPAP preferred but not required, and competency with titrating drips such as Lasix and Heparin.
  • Additional Information: The unit has a team-oriented culture with family-like support. There are charge nurses on each shift, nurse aides/patient care techs are present, and tele/monitor techs read strips using tele packs. Orientation includes 1-2 shifts on the floor. Successful candidates will float to other MedSurg units if needed, with telemetry nurses managing strips.
  • Schedule: Shifts are from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Submission Requirements: RTO (Request for Time Off) must be provided upfront for 7 or fewer days within a 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
  • Geographic and Employment Restrictions: Candidates must reside within 50 miles radius and cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with the organization, including CHI and Dignity.
  • Additional Notes: The unit prefers travelers who are supported by a family-oriented culture and supportive environment.
