Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Department in West Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking a qualified Surgical Tech (Technician) specializing in Labor and Delivery. This role involves supporting childbirth procedures, including C-sections and vaginal deliveries, within a hospital setting. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Location: West Des Moines, Iowa
Shift Hours: 12 hours
Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
Start Date: 07/20/2026
Required Qualifications: Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or ARC/Red Cross, 24 months recent/current Labor and Delivery (LD) / Surgical Tech experience in a hospital setting, experience with C-sections and vaginal deliveries, and a valid drivers license.
Experience: 24 months of recent LD / Surgical Tech experience, including C-section and vaginal delivery; no first-time travelers; must have completed at least one travel assignment within the past 12 months; Level II or III trauma experience preferred, Level I trauma experience required.
Skills Checklist: Must be specific to the discipline listed (Surgical Tech / Labor Delivery).
Certifications: NBSTSA certificate (or equivalent) required.
Callback: Not applicable.
Weekend Schedule: Every third weekend, including holiday rotation if scheduled.
Holidays: Required to work 1-2 of the upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
Experience Requirement: 24 months of recent/current Labor Delivery / Surgical Tech hospital experience.
Additional Information: Candidates must have worked in hospital Labor and Delivery within the last 24 months; no first-time travelers accepted.
