Description
Job Summary:
The neuromedsurgical acute registered nurse (RN) position is based in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with neuroscience-related diagnoses such as stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, and head injury. The position requires candidates to bring their active Illinois nursing license on the first day and have prior experience on dedicated neuro units. The shift is scheduled for 12-hour night hours.
Job Details:
- Position: RN - Neuro MedSurg Acute
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, one shift daily.
- Schedule: 36 hours per week, with every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and every other holiday required.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS.
- Consolidated Requirements: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application has been initiated; minimum 1 year of experience working on a dedicated neuro unit; trauma level 1 experience; previous travel experience (no first-time travelers); must have heparin gtt experience; CPR certified.
- Responsibilities: Provide patient care for neuroscience patients, including managing titratable drips such as heparin based on PTT, troubleshooting telemonitors, and reading strips. RNs are required to read telemetry strips using Phillips monitors.
- Additional Information:
- Orientation includes 2 days of unit-specific and computer training.
- Float in rotation with staff, only performing skills within competency when floated outside of the general unit.
- No scrub color requirement; tattoos must be covered; piercings limited to ears.
- No specific call or standby requirements.
