Job Summary:
The role of Step Down Nurse is based in the Galesburg, Illinois area within an acute care setting. This position involves providing specialized nursing care on a shift that runs from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, approximately 12 hours in length. Candidates are required to bring their active Illinois nursing license on the first day. The position emphasizes a need for a minimum of two years of relevant experience, along with certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, at least two years of clinical experience, certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step down or telemetry units.
• Float: Travelers are expected to float; float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Must submit the last four digits of SSN.
  • No specific scrub color required, staff may wear own scrubs.
  • Telemetry monitoring includes Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitroglycerin.
  • No vents, Bipap, Cpap, or HF/Vapotherm devices.
  • In-house hospitalist staff from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by an Advance Practice Nurse (APN) with e-hospitalist support.
  • No trauma level designation other than Level 2.
  • Staffing ratios are 1:4 or 1:5, with a charge nurse responsible for taking patients.
  • Orientation includes one hospital shift and two unit shifts (one day and one night).
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required, with no call duties.
  • Charting is performed using the EPIC system.
