Job Summary:
The postpartum nursing position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on the Post Partum Floor. The role involves providing care for new mothers and newborns, specifically addressing postpartum recovery and neonatal needs. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This position requires acute care experience, and the shift schedule is rotating with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

- Required Qualifications: Active current or conditional Massachusetts RN license; current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; current AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; at least 1 year of experience in postpartum care; valid drivers license with address matching demographics; recent references from Charge RN/Manager/Supervisor; and EMR experience preferred with EPIC.
- Preferred Qualifications: Lactation certification; travel experience; willingness to accept first-time travelers.
- Additional Information: Scrubs are provided; hospital-wide orientation is scheduled for 3 days, plus 3 days on the unit. Orientation includes system-wide and unit-specific training. No on-call requirements; volunteers may be called for vacant shifts.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Care for patients with diagnoses including post vaginal delivery, post C-section, postpartum magnesium therapy, and postpartum hemorrhage. Administered drips and medications include IV antibiotics, IV magnesium, packed red blood cells, RhoGAM, and Lovenox.
- Equipment Used: Welch Allyn blood pressure cuff, Nihon Khoden monitors, venodynm machine, IV pump, panda warmer, Medela Breast pump.
- Patients: Newborns, with 13 beds in the postpartum unit and 4 in the continuing care nursery.
- Submission Requirements: Up-to-date resume demonstrating 1+ year of postpartum experience; two recent references; skills checklist matching the specialty; valid drivers license with matching address; RTO (request for time off) must be included at submission.
- Vaccinations: Flu vaccine as required.
- Unit Specifics: Care involves patients post-vaginal delivery and post-C-section, with intermittent postpartum magnesium and hemorrhage.
