Description

Job Summary:
A Travel Nurse specializing in Intermediate and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Bangor, Maine. This position involves providing specialized patient care for trauma, medical/surgical, and cardiac patients within a Level II trauma center setting. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of shift.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, either 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with every other weekend rotation and potential call back.
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; AACCN (preferred); CCRN (preferred).
  • Certifications, Education Requirements, and Experience: Valid nursing license; 1 year of Intermediate (Progressive Care Unit) level of care experience; 2 years of Medical/Surgical experience with some PCU; and applicable certifications.
  • Clinical Skills and Experience: Trauma experience, stroke patient care, neuro checks every 2 hours, high-flow oxygen management, chest tube care, wound Vac and dressing changes, Bipap administration, drain and ostomy care, IV starts, trach care and suctioning, cardiac rhythm interpretation, insulin titration, and experience with trached patients on vents.
  • Additional Clinical Skills: Support on the unit from CNA (ratio 1:6-12), charge nurse, phlebotomy, resource nurse, 24/7 ICU-trained RT, hospitalist, trauma surgery monitors, PT/OT, and IV/VA team for US-guided IV and PICC/midline placement.
  • Charting System and Equipment: Cerner (highly preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors.
  • Float Requirements: May float to ED, ICU, or CCU depending on departmental needs.
  • Orientation & Censusing: General hospital orientation followed by unit-specific training; orientation includes 1 day on the unit, with scheduling for 12-hour shifts.
  • Additional Notes: Scrub color any, must be professional; free parking designated areas.
