Description

Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart Specialist position available in Houston, Texas. This role involves working in a high-volume cardiovascular operating room, performing complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures. The position requires a skilled professional capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment and collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 10-hour shift, minimum 40 hours per week, starting 09/07/2026
  • Required Qualifications: Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Minimum of 2 years of experience exclusively in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with 5+ years of scrub and circulate experience in cardiac and vascular surgery will be considered first.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required across main operating room, catheterization lab, and interventional radiology (IR) departments.
  • Additional Information:
    • The unit has 5 CVORs, including hybrid and shared hybrid/CathLab suites.
    • Staff consists of 7 Registered Nurses (including 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 1 PRN, 1 PT) and 6 Certified Surgical Technologists (CST).
    • Typical procedures include complex vascular procedures, cardiac surgeries such as sternotomies, CABG, AVR, MVR, VSD repair, Impella/ECMO insertion, ascending/descending aorta repair, TAVRs, and thoracic robotic cases.
    • Candidate must have the ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to emergencies.
    • The dress code is black scrubs, provided by the unit.
    • Weekend and on-call availability are required for this position.
