Description

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a qualified Critical Care Nurse specializing in the Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) at a medical facility in Asheville, North Carolina. This high-acuity unit provides advanced cardiac care, including post-operative heart surgery recovery, and features a collaborative environment with highly trained staff. The role involves providing exceptional patient care within a dynamic cardiovascular intensive care setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)/ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications, Critical Care training, 2 years CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) or CVRU (Cardiovascular Recovery Unit) experience, willingness to float to all ICUs and stepdown units, high energy and friendly personality, valid certifications, and active license to practice in North Carolina
  • Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room care
  • Additional Information: The unit features 19 beds, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity. The team performs procedures such as IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella, LVADS (Left Ventricular Assist Devices), and hemodynamic assessments. Monitors used include GE monitors, and care is documented through Cerner electronic medical records. Staffing includes 13 day shift RNs, 11 night shift RNs, and a nursing aide on all shifts. Orientation is provided by a dedicated educator, and the unit emphasizes a friendly, team-oriented environment.
